Describe a difficult decision that you made and had a good result
One of the most difficult yet life-changing decisions I have ever made was moving to Saudi Arabia for higher education. It was a decision that required courage, adaptability, and a willingness to step out of my comfort zone, but in the end, it brought incredible opportunities and personal growth.
When and Where It Happened
This happened when I was offered a scholarship to study at King Saud University in Riyadh. At first, I was excited, but deep down, I was also nervous because it meant leaving behind my family, friends, and familiar surroundings.
Why It Was a Difficult Decision
There were several reasons why this was a tough choice:
Leaving My Family – I had never lived far from my family before, so the thought of being away for years was emotionally challenging.
Cultural and Language Differences – Saudi Arabia has a different culture and language, which meant I had to adapt quickly.
Academic Challenges – Studying at an international university required high academic performance, and I knew I had to work hard to succeed.
The Good Result
Despite the challenges, this decision turned out to be one of the best choices of my life:
Academic Success – I earned my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, which set the foundation for my research career.
Personal Growth – I became more independent, confident, and adaptable, learning how to handle responsibilities on my own.
Career Opportunities – The experience and knowledge I gained helped me secure a remote research assistant position at Kwangwoon University in Korea.
Global Perspective – Living in a multicultural environment allowed me to meet people from different backgrounds and develop a broader understanding of the world.
Final Thoughts
Looking back, I realize that taking risks and embracing change is the key to growth and success. This difficult decision transformed my life in ways I never imagined. If I had not made this choice, I would have missed out on amazing opportunities. It taught me that sometimes, the hardest decisions lead to the greatest rewards.
